Bacitracin is an antibiotic that acts by inhibiting the growth of bacteria in the wounds.

Bacitracin is used to prevent skin infections due to wounds, cuts or burns.


  • Clean and dry the site of infection before applying bacitracin. Application should be done by spreading the medication on the affected area forming a uniform film, preferably at same time of the day every day.
  • Ensure that you complete the duration of treatment as advised by your doctor.
  • Before you take bacitracin, inform your doctor if have /are being treated for kidney disease or have hearing problems.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you develop any severe allergic reactions.
  • Do not use topical bacitracin for eyes, deep wounds, animal bites or severe burns.
  • Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
